Innovative Systems for Reliable Temperature Control

In the rapidly evolving logistics industry, maintaining precise temperature control is crucial, especially when dealing with sensitive goods. ADEAREST was entrusted with a mission to extend and upgrade the refrigeration capacity of a leading onshore shipping and logistics provider in the UAE. This project involved designing and implementing a robust system capable of handling a wide range of temperature requirements, from ambient conditions to ultra-low temperatures necessary for specific applications.

Project Highlights

The project included the installation of an advanced ammonia booster system, ensuring optimal performance across diverse temperature ranges. A comprehensive cooling solution was implemented with Grasso ammonia screw compressors, designed to maintain warehouse temperatures between +16^oC and +22^oC, with the flexibility to handle freezer operations from -18^oC to -25^oC. A high-performance evaporative condenser was introduced, capable of efficient heat rejection even in extreme ambient temperatures. Dehumidifiers were incorporated for the docking areas, ensuring the freezer rooms are future-ready and capable of maintaining the necessary low humidity levels. Additionally, the existing SCADA systems were modified to integrate the new refrigeration setup, enhancing system monitoring and control. An underfloor glycol heating system was installed, providing a reliable solution for freezer room operations.

Technical Specifications

The ammonia screw compressors were designed for both low and high-stage operations. An evaporative condenser was installed to operate efficiently with ammonia at high condensing temperatures. Two plate heat exchangers were installed to manage chilled water systems for the offices, while ceiling-mounted ammonia and chilled water air coolers ensured consistent temperature control throughout the facility. The SCADA system integration provided enhanced monitoring and control capabilities for the new refrigeration system.

Outcome

Upon completion, the extended refrigeration system significantly enhanced the facility's cooling capacity, ensuring that all temperature-sensitive goods are stored and transported under optimal conditions. ADEAREST's innovative solutions and expert installation have enabled the client to meet the increasing demands of the logistics industry, particularly in response to heightened requirements for cold chain management during global health crises.
